The Opera browser has incorporated Bitcoin and TRON payments into their Android app. After the update, users will be able to make cryptocurrency transfers directly from their browser wallet into decentralized wallet apps.
Charles Hamel, head of cryptocurrencies at Opera, commented on the initiative:
“Most people have heard of bitcoin and thus we saw it as important to support it and make this feature more familiar to a larger group of people.”
Today, around 300 million people are using the Opera browser.
Opera is still the only browser out of the top 5 to offer cryptocurrency support. In July 2018, Opera piloted a digital Ethereum wallet in their Android app. Following this, Opera launched an iOS browser with cryptocurrency support, along with a desktop browser with similar functionality.
